The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has published two engineering roadmaps that highlight successes in the country’s efforts “to support the continuous increase of renewables in the energy mix,” in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and South West Interconnected System (SWIS) grid.
This is the conclusion of AEMO CEO Daniel Westerman, who last week described the Australian energy mix as “world leading” in these two key grids. The NEM serves around nine million customers in the country’s eastern and southern states, including Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
