Solar PV was the most awarded renewables through global government tenders in 2023, according to Wood Mackenzie.
Last year, 137GW of renewable energy capacity was awarded globally through government tenders, up 10% year-on-year despite sector headwinds, logistics tensions, and the energy crisis. Solar PV capacity was the most awarded renewables through government tenders, accounting for 44% of the total volume with 61GW. However, solar’s share of global government tenders dropped from 59% in 2022.
